Our South Florida Mosquitoes are quite the biters. We combed the Internet looking for mostly natural remedies to relieve the itch. Let’s face it, calamine lotion is pretty useless.
- Make a paste of baking soda and water to rub on bite
- Apply rubbing alcohol, witch hazel, white vinegar or hand sanitizer
- Hold a refrigerated wet used tea bag (best a green tea bag) to the bite
- Apply toothpaste to the area
- Dab on some Listerine with a cotton ball
- Apply lime or lemon juice or apply a slice directly to the bite
- Try a paste of salt and water and rub directly on skin
- Crush a few aspirin tablets and mix with water to make a paste
- If an entire limb is bitten take a bath in Epsom salt. Or soak a cotton ball in water and Epsom salt and apply to the bite.
- For very temporary relief rub the bite with an ice cube or ice pack
- Rub the bite with the inside of a banana peel
- Not only is Basil a natural mosquito repellent, but if you rub a leaf on your bite it will stop the itching!
